Air Quality Summary Report - Liberty and Rice Ridge Fires For: Monday, August 14, 2017

Air Resource Advisor: Andrea Holland

FIRE, WEATHER AND SMOKE SYNOPSIS

Weather and Fire Behavior Summary: Yesterday’s cloud cover and rains moderated fire activity and winds served to lessen smoke impacts to nearby communities. Cooler temperatures and higher humidity are expected today with afternoon winds 7-14 mph, gusting 18-23 mph. Today will likely see a return of more active fire behavior on both fires this afternoon.

Smoke Summary: Heavier smoke impacts will be short term this morning. This afternoon’s winds may help clear the air this afternoon. Tonight, however, smoke is expected to drift back into valley communities. Seeley Lake’s air quality will see a short-term spike in Unhealthy levels of smoke this morning, clearing with the inversion. Arlee is expected to see Moderate conditions most of today with heavier smoke concentrations returning tonight and approaching USG levels. Clearwater, Rainy Lake and Condon may enjoy relatively cleaner air for most of today.
