Air Quality Summary Report - Liberty and Rice Ridge Fires For: Friday, August 11, 2017
Air Resource Advisor: Andrea Holland
FIRE, WEATHER AND SMOKE SYNOPSIS
Weather and Fire Behavior Summary: This is Day Four of the same weather pattern with continued wet/dry thunderstorm potential and little opportunity for significant clearing of smoke out of affected valleys. Fuel moistures seen on the Rice Ridge fire are at historic lows; fire activity will continue to increase and spot fires will be difficult to catch especially in areas of beetle kill and heavy fuel concentrations. The Liberty Fire continues to see minimal fire activity with spread through smoldering and creeping enhanced by single tree and group torching. Spotting will be short range.
Smoke Summary: Not much relief today for Seeley Lake residents as smoke will persist throughout the day. Arlee will see smoke levels vary between USG and Moderate for most of the day with heavier concentrations spilling back into the area late tonight. Clearwater is likely to see Moderate to USG conditions throughout most of the day with heaviest concentrations around USG flowing in this evening and lasting most of the night.
