Current Fire Situation: All evacuation warnings were lifted as of 1200 yesterday. The Orleans Complex is currently 27,224 acres and is 53% completed. The Haypress Fire, the largest in the complex, has burned 21,075 acres and is 6% completed.
The Haypress Fire activity was relatively minimal yesterday. Due to safety concerns, resources will continue to construct fire lines in addition to suppression repair on the Haypress Fire when rain subsides.
Safety: Green trees and snags continue to fall creating significant safety hazards for the firefighters along with extremely steep and rugged terrain. Debris and slides from precipitation causes additional hazards.
Hunting season is currently open. Firefighters are conducting suppression activities in hunting areas. Portions of the Six Rivers and Klamath National Forests are closed. Contact your local ranger station for current closure information. Motorists traveling on State Highway 96 are reminded that there will be numerous firefighting vehicles on the roadway. Please drive with caution.
Weather: A cool and wet pattern is predicted for the fire area through Thursday. Gusty west winds are possible along the ridge tops otherwise winds will be light from the west through much of the week.
Closures: The Klamath National Forest has issued Closure Order No. 17-05-801 to close trails, roads, and lands on the Ukonom Ranger District as a result of Orleans Complex fires:
