Smoke: Upper air analyses show a trough of low pressure digging into the Pacific NW and migrating east across ID and MT today. Winds at the surface are forecast to be from the east-northeast at 17-23 mph across much of the region. Smoke will transport to the west southwest and we will experience decent ventilation conditions today due to the wind speed. In the evening hours, regional mixing heights will lower and smoke is likely to be largely confined and transported in the valleys with winds continuing from the east, but should remain more disperse compared to periods of high pressure.
Fire Info: Overcast skies, significantly lower temperatures, and higher humidity should limit overall fire behavior. The migration of this lower pressure system and another entering the region by Monday should keep these conditions consistent throughout the domain.
