DIAMOND CREEK FIRE CLOSURE

Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50 (a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Methow Valley Ranger District of the Okanogan Wenatchee National Forest. This Order supersedes Order #06-17-04-17-17 and Order #06-17-04-17-1019, both signed on September 7, 2017 by Michael R. Williams as well as Order #06-17-04-17-1021, signed on September 15, 2017 by Michael R. Williams and is effective until October 15, 2017, unless rescinded, whichever is earlier.


PROHIBITIONS:

Entering into or being upon National Forest System lands as described below and depicted in Exhibit A. [36 CFR § 261.53(e)].
Being on any National Forest System road as described below and depicted in Exhibit A. [36 CFR § 261.54(e)].
Being on any National Forest System closed trail, as displayed in Exibit A. as described below and depicted in Exhibit A. [36 CFR § 261.55(a)].


Description of Area Closure

The fire closure area boundary begins at Sunrise Peak and heads southwest to just north of the Monument Creek Trail Head. From just north of the Monument Creek Trailhead the closure boundary continues northeast to the ridgline between Monument Creek and Robinson Creek. The closure boundary follows the ridgeline north to Scramble Point. From Scramble Point the closure boundary continues on the ridgeline between Eureka Creek and Beauty Creek north to Beauty Peak. From Beauty Peak the closure boundary heads southeast to Robinson Mountain. From Robinson Mountain the closure boundary heads northwest to Devil’s Peak. From Devils’s Peak the boundary follows the ridge between South Creek and Middle Fork Pasayten Creek to Wildcat Mountain. From Wildcat Mountain the closure boundary heads north to Mount Rolo. From Mount Rolo the closure boundary heads northeast to Mount Carro. From Mount Carro the boundary heads northwest to the end of FS Trail #470. The closure boundary then folows and excludes FS Trail #470 northwest to the junction of FS Trail #478. From the junction of FS Trail #470 and FS Trail 478 the closure boundary follows and excludes FS Trail #478 until the junctiojn of FS Trail #533 and FS Trail #478. From the junction of FS Trail #533 and FS Trail #478 the boundary folows Holdover Ridge until it hits the border with Canada. The closure boundary then heads east along the border with Canada until a point directly North of Teapot Dome. From Teapot Dome the closure boundary heads southeast to Topaz Mountain. The closure boundary then follows and excludes FS Trail #360 until the junction of FS Trail# 360 and FS Trail #510. The closure boundary then heads south following and excluding FS Trail #510 until the junction of FS Trail #510 and FS Trail #561. The closure boundary then follows and excludes FS Trail #561 west until the junction with FS Trail #505. The closure boundary continues along and excluding FS Trail #505 until the trail takes a sharp turn north in section 13. From where FS Trail #505 turns north the closure boundary heads directly west to Andrews Creek. The closure boundary follows Andrews Creek south until the ridge between Dutton Creek and Perry Creek comes to Andrews Creek. The closure boundary then follows the ridge between Dutton Creek and Perry Creek west until it reaches the summit of Black Lake Ridge. The closure boundary then goes southwest to just north of Black Lake. From a point just north of Black Lake the boundary heads southwest to Obstruction Peak. From Obstruction Peak the boundary heads south to Mount Barney. From Mount Barney the closure boundary heads southwest to the end of FSR 5140. From the end of FSR 5140 the boundary heads southeast to the confluence of Ray Creek and Falls Creek. From the confluence of Ray Creek and Falls Creek the closure boundary goes west to Burgett Peak. From Burgett Peak the closure boundary returns to it’s starting point at Sunrise Peak.
