Highline Fire Area Closure – Version #6

PROHIBITIONS:

Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b) the following acts are prohibited on the lands as described in this Order, all within administrative boundaries of the Krassel Ranger District, Payette National Forest until further notice.

  1. Going into or being upon the Fire Area described below. 36 CFR 261.52(e)

  2. Being on the Trails described below. 36 CFR 261.55(a)

EXEMPTIONS:

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (e) the following persons are exempt from this Order:

  1. Persons with a special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order.

  2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

  3. Federal or State administrative personnel in the performance of an official duty.

AREA DESCRIBED:

Highline Fire Area:(including all trails and airstrips within the Area) is described as beginning at the mouth of Richardson Creek along the Main Salmon River in the NW ¼ of Section 5 in T25N, R10E and following the ridgeline SW through Sections 6 and 7; turning Southerly and running along the ridgeline in and through T25N, R10E, Sections 7,18, 19, 30, 31; crossing into T24N, R9E, Section 1; heading Southwesterly through Sections 12, 11, 14, 15, 22, 27, to Sheepeater Lookout; crossing into and heading Southerly through T23N, R9E, Sections 3, 10, 9, 16 at the junction of NFS Trail #’s 020, 003 and 019; continuing Southerly through Sections 21, 28, 33; crossing into T22N, R9E, Section 5; turning Southerly through sections 8, 17, 20, 21, 28, 27, 34; continuing Southeasterly and crossing into T21N, R9E, Section 2, 1, 12, 15 ; ending at NFS Trail #196 Big Creek Trail; continuing Easterly along the North side of the Big Creek Trail #196 through T21N, R10E, Sections 18, 17, 16, 15, 10, 11, 12; continuing into T21N, R11E, Sections 7, 8, 17, 16, 15, 10, 11,12;continuing N/NE into T21N, R12E, Section 6; continuing N/NE into T22N, R12E, Sections 31, 32, 29, 20, 21, 16, 15, 10, 11, 2; continuing up the West side of the Cold Meadows Airstrip in T23N, R12E, Sections 35, 26 and back down the East side of the airstrip, bisecting NFS Trail #038 at the end of the airstrip runway in Section 35 and running Southerly through Section 35; continuing Northeasterly along the East side of NFS Trail #040 in T23N, R12E, Section 36, 25; T23N, R13E, Sections 30, 19; turning Easterly and bisecting NFS Trail #040 along the Lower Meadow Creek drainage in Sections 19, 20, 21 and bisecting NFS Trail #041 at the junction with NFS Trail #’s 238, 042 and 041 in T23N, R13E, Section 21; continuing Northeasterly and Easterly in Sections 16, 15, 14, 13 to the Salmon-Challis NF and Payette NF Boundary; continuing Northerly in T23N, R13E, Sections 13, 12, 1; continuing Northerly into T24N, R13E, Sections 36, 35 to approximately 100 feet from the banks of the Main Salmon River; following the Main Salmon River approximately 100 feet from the south bank on the Payette National Forest side Northwesterly in T24N, R13E, Sections 25, 26, 27, 22, 21, 16, 17, 8, 7, 6; continuing Northwesterly into T23N, R12E, Section 1; continuing Northwesterly into T25N, R12E, Sections 36, 35, 34, 27, 28, 21, 20, 17, 18; turning Westerly into T25N, R11E, Sections 13, 14; heading Northwesterly in Sections 11, 10, 9, 5; crossing into T26N, R11E, Section 31; continuing Westerly/Northwesterly into T26N, R10E, Section 36, 25, 26, 27, turning Southwesterly in Sections 28, 29, 32; heading Southwesterly and ending in T25N, R10E, Section 5.

NFS Trail #001 is described as beginning at Campbell’s Ferry located in Township 25 North, Range 9 East, Section 22 and traveling northeasterly, becoming southeasterly to a point where it enters the above-described closure Area located in Township 25 North, Range 10 East, Section 18.

Chamberlain Guard Station and Airstrip are located at: T24N, R10E, Section 34 & 35.

The Area, Airstrips and Trails as described above are located on National Forest System lands within the administrative and proclaimed boundaries of the Krassel Ranger District, Payette National Forest, Idaho County and Valley County; Boise Meridian..

PURPOSE:

The Area as described above has ongoing wildfire activity within its perimeter. The Area, Airstrips and Trails are closed for public safety and protection from hazards associated with wildfire. At this time all trails (those not identified in Blue on the Closure Map) bordering the closure Area remain open to public access.

IMPLEMENTATION:

  1. This Order will be in effect when signed and shall remain in effect until further notice.

  2. A map identifying the closure Area and Trails is attached and made part of this Order.
  3. Any violation of this prohibition is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for an individual, or $10,000.00 for an organization, and/or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months. [Title 16 USC 551, Title 18 USC 3571(b)(6), Title 18 USC 3581 (b)(7)].

  4. This Order supersedes any previous Order(s) prohibiting the same or similar acts prohibited by this Order in the Area and Trails covered by this Order.

  5. Further information regarding this Order may be obtained at the Krassel Ranger District (208-634-0600) and the Payette Forest Supervisor’s Office (208-634-0700), McCall, ID.
