Chetco Bar Fire Information, (541) 247-3680

The Chetco Bar Fire is located in the Kalmiopsis Wilderness on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. There was no infrared flight yesterday, so acreage estimate remains 4,821.

The Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest has closed the Upper Chetco, Tincup and Boulder Tie trails for the health and safety of the public and firefighters. Portions of the Kalmiopsis Rim, Tincup and Bailey Mountain trails were previously closed. Closure orders remain in effect for the forest. Please go here for all forest orders including those that pertain to the Chetco Bar Fire:

The lingering smoke from the Chetco Bar Fire and adjacent fires persists in nearby river drainages. The morning inversion of smoke is expected to lift mid-afternoon, which may help with some smoke dispersal. Smoke from the fire may move to the south then southeast late in the afternoon.

Fire activity and fire growth today and tomorrow is expected to be minimal based on forecasted weather. However, a chance of thunderstorms over the fire could increase fire activity due to potential strong downdraft winds and atmospheric instability.
