Burdette Fire News Release

Smoke Outlook for September 6, 2017

Incident: Burdette Fire Wildfire
Released: 9/6/2017

Smoke: Air Quality Alert in effect today for Missoula, Lake, and Ravalli counties. Light variable winds today including a north northwesterly component, allowing smoke to impact communities downwind from fires. High pressure remains over the region, trapping smoke in valleys overnight and mornings, heavily impacting communities closest to fires.

Fire: Active fire conditions are expected to continue, with the most activity in the afternoon. Fire is anticipated to continue to be active overnight above the thermal belt.

Other: As the high pressure moves across the region Thursday and Friday, winds will remain light but shift to west and then southwest, keeping dry and warm conditions. Stable weather conditions continue to create poor air quality conditions as smoke remains trapped in the region under the high pressure system. If you live within Missoula County, please refer to the Missoula City-County Health Department for detailed smoke response information (see link below).
