Incident: Whittier Fire Wildfire
Start Date: July 8, 2017 Cause: Under Investigation Size: 18,430 acres Containment: 87% Personnel: 628
Structures burned: 16 Residences destroyed 1 Residence damaged
30 Outbuildings destroyed 6 Outbuildings damaged
Location: Los Padres National Forest south of Lake Cachuma to the Santa Barbra front country.
Current Situation: No significant fire activity is expected today. There are still some isolated pockets of heat and unburned islands within the fire perimeter, but no forward progression is likely.
Personnel are working on patrol, mop-up and suppression repair throughout the fire area. Repairs include backhaul of equipment and construction of water bars for erosion control on dozer lines and roads. Crews continue working in the front country to construct and improve fire line.
The Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team has begun their assessment. The team will evaluate the burned area watersheds and identify emergency treatments necessary to protect sensitive resources.

Weather: There is a 20% chance of thunderstorms today as monsoon moisture lingers. In the lower levels, on shore flow will increase and the marine layer will deepen. This will allow for cooling over the entire area today and tomorrow.
Fire Weather: Inland Temp: 86-92 Relative Humidity: 32-37% Winds: 2-5 mph and gusts to 10 mph
Front Country Temp: 73-79 Relative Humidity: 55-60% Winds: 1-3 mph
