Ash Mountain Prescribed Burn Stopped Due To Non-Parks Wildfire

SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK, Calif. June 7, 2017 - This morning crews from the parks commenced the Ash Mountain Prescribed Burn. As they were completing this test burn, operations were ceased because of a new wildfire start outside the parks. Crews from the National Park Service are assisting in the response of this new fire.
The large visible column of smoke is not related to the Ash Mountain Prescribed Burn.
A total of five acres were treated this morning in the parks and no new prescribed burning will occur until a later date.
Information for this fire at this time should be directed to fire agencies in Three Rivers, California.
