Prescribe Fire Information for Paisley Ranger District

The Paisley Lake Ranger District of the Fremont-Winema National Forest will begin prescribed fire operations starting the week of May 19 through June 3, 2017 as weather conditions permit.

Ben Young Unit 14 – located 17 miles South of Paisley Oregon, and around 20 miles north of Lakeview Oregon. Unit 14 is located between Forest Service Road 3623 and Forest Service Road 3509, along Forest Service Road 016. Approximate acreage in Unit 14 is 477 acres.

The prescribed fire activities will:

Remove hazardous fuels from earlier thinning treatments and brush.

Improve firefighter safety during future suppression activities.

Improve wildlife habitat in the area and create more resilient forests.

For visitor and firefighter safety:

Watch for prescribed fire signs in the area

Be aware of smoke in the area both during and after ignitions, which may affect visibility on area roads

Increased fire personnel and vehicles in the area and additional Forest Service traffic
