Level 2 Evacuation News

Incident: Pioneer Fire Wildfire

Level 2 evacuations are in effect form Pine Flats Campground to Kirkham Hot Springs, north and south of the South Fork of the Payette River. This includes Deadwood Campground (Julie Creek), Pine Flats Campground, Park Creek Campground and Lowman proper. Highway 17 is closed at Little Gallagher Creek, near the old Rattlesnake Lodge about 7 miles east of Garden Valley. Highway 21 is closed at Archie Creek, about 7 miles east of Lowman. Level 2 evacuations are voluntary, but highly recommended. This evacuation has been issued by Boise County Sherriff's Office. The fire has crossed Highway 17, air resources are on scene. People that want to leave Lowman can follow a pilot car down Highway 21, meet at the junction of Highway 17 and 21. The last pilot car has left for the night and will resume tomorrow, August 6, between 9a-12p, the Boise County Sheriff's Office will convoy cars for Lowman residents headed south .Highway 21 north can be used as an evacuation route. Once you leave the evacuation area you will not be allowed back in until the evacuation is lifted. Red Cross is establishing a shelter at the Idaho City High School in Idaho City, ID.
