Cedar Fire and BAER Update June 30

Incident: Cedar Fire Wildfire

Fire Activity: Fire operations are winding down. Most of the fire resources have been released. The Type 3 IC (incident commander) is being supported by local resources. Recent rain and predicted monsoon are reducing fire activity. Fire crews continue to patrol the fire perimeter. Internal areas of unburned fuel may continue to smolder and produce light smoke.
The interior of the burned area and roads leading into the fire is closed to the public due to flooding.
Continued rainfall will cause flash floods making roads impassable and dangerous. Please stay out of washes and do not cross any areas where water is flowing across roadways.

Cedar BAER Update
Cedar Creek, AZ – Yesterday, BAER Team continued implementing and placing K-rails around homes and other values at risk in the community of Cedar Creek. There were 7 loads of sand delivered for sand bags. Crews are working on getting thosesand bags filled. These sand bags will be used to reduce the impact of the monsoon floods. Today, gauges will be placed in proper sites to monitor flood flows. This will help determine emergency response. Travelers should be aware of increased heavy equipment along Highway 73, especially in the community of Cedar Creek. There was increased flooding last night in Cedar Creek. Cedar Creek Community should be ready to evacuate, if there is heavy rain fall.
Community should plan ahead for placement of pets, cattle and horses.
