Pecos Team 3 transfers to Type 4 team

Coyote Fire Wildfire
News – 5/21/2016

The transition from the Pecos Type 3 Team to the Type 4 Team was this morning at the 0600 briefing. The team, led by Rob Winkler, will remain on the incident until further notice. Closeout for the Pecos Type 3 Team will be held 1300 at the Permian Basin Regional Training Center/Eddy County Fire Service.

Due to light fire activity near Bush Mountain, the Smokey Bear Hot Shots have been ordered, to arrive at 10 am this morning, to assist in mitigation and monitoring. With higher winds and lower relative humidity, it is unclear whether the flying and firing processes will be performed today.

With the Memorial Day weekend approaching, the Guadalupe Mountains National Park, is encouraging its visitors to enjoy the Park lands, but to enjoy them responsibly. Pay attention to all restrictions that are in place. Continue to be aware of firefighters, their vehicles and equipment.

For additional information, contact the Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Information Officer Elizabeth Jackson at 432 940-2440

Closures: Dog Canyon, Devil’s Hall Trail. All backcountry areas of the Park will remain CLOSED until further notice. Park areas remaining open are Guadalupe Peak, El Capitan, Smith Spring Trail and McKittrick Canyon to Pratt Cabin.
