2018 Umatilla NF Prescribed Burning Announcement

Planning For Prescribed Burning - August/September 2016

Incident: 2018 Umatilla NF Prescribed Burning Prescribed Fire
Released: 8/15/2016

The Umatilla National Forest is working on plans for prescribed burning that could initiate in September 2016 when fire danger moderates and go into late October. The late season, typically late summer and fall, is typically the best opportunity for prescribed burning each year due to multiple and extended weather windows. Hunters and other forest users should reference the maps on this site prior to determining their camps spots or hunting areas. While efforts are made to reduce the impact of burning on forest users, when prescribed fire windows open, burning in these areas may occur on short notice and short term impacts from smoke and prescribed fire operations can occur. If you have questions, please call the appropriate folks listed in the contacts section.
