Current Situation: The King Fire is burning in steep terrain in the South Fork of the American River Canyon and Silver Creek Canyon, north of the community of Pollock Pines. This afternoon’s fire behavior became extreme with crown runs and long range spotting resulting in the fire making a significant run to the northwest towards Quintette, Volcanoville, and Stumpy Meadows Reservoir.

Evacuations: To obtain the most current and accurate evacuation status and information go directly to the
El Dorado County Sheriff’s blog ( and web page at: The Sheriff’s office manages all evacuation activities for the county and is updating information as changes occur. To assist in this effort, the Chief Administrative Office of El Dorado County has set up a hotline and webpage.
• The hotline phone number is (530) 642-7263. The hotline will be available from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Voicemail is available outside of the hotline hours.
• Information will also be updated via the County's Twitter @CountyElDorado and Facebook.
Evacuation Shelter Location: The evacuation center is located at Camino Seventh-day Adventist Church. The address is: 3520 Carson Road in Camino. Another Red Cross Evacuation Center is located at 6530 Wentworth Springs Road in Georgetown.

Special Announcements: Public Meeting – A public meeting was held tonight at 6:30 PM at the Georgetown Elementary School located at 6530 Wentworth Springs Road, Georgetown, CA 95634.

Road Closures: (Note: Highway 50 has reopened). White Meadows at Ice House Road, Rock Creek at 193, Mosquito Road at Union Ridge Road, Highway 50 (Sly Park to Union Ridge), Forebay at Deep Haven - Residents only by EDSO. Forebay at Blair (Residents only by EDSO), Canyon Edge at Randolph Canyon (hard closure by CHP).

The King Fire Area is closed to provide for public safety.
