Last night’s fire activity:
Last evening work continued on reinforcement of containment lines where access and topography allowed. Crews continued to improve areas around structures providing for public safety.
Today’s efforts will be directed and holding and improving containment lines on the southern and eastern flanks of the Way Fire. Activities on the northern portion of the Way fire continue to require air assets to assist with containment efforts due to inaccessible, steep terrain. Where containment lines have been established suppression repair will commence today. Firefighters and utilities companies continue to work in the areas where repopulation occurred . The public in these areas are encouraged to continue to drive with caution.
Last evening temperatures were in the 50’s to 60’s. Today’s weather will be sunny with an afternoon high in the high 80’s. Winds gusts are anticipated to be 15 to 25 MPH. Thunderstorm activity is predicted to occur in the upper part of the state today but will have no impact upon the Way Fire.
Last evening’s public meeting in Wofford Heights was well attended with approximately 150 in attendance. Community members were very supportive of the firefighting efforts on the Way fire. The meeting was conducted with “live streaming.” The meeting is archived on YouTube and can be accessed at a later date by pasting the following link in your browser.
