Community meeting: August 4, 2014 at 7 pm in Sawyers Bar at the Salmon River Restoration Council building.

The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office issued an Evacuation Advisory for residents of Quartz Valley and Mugginsville. The notice is for all residents along Quartz Valley Road between Scott River Road and Oro Fino Road. See the complete advisory at http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4035/.

Log Fire: Firefighters are using the Shackelford Trail, Shackelford Road and constructing fireline in the Mill Creek drainage to contain the fire’s spread. Work continues on the dozer contingency line further east at the toe of the slope to increase the probability of successfully protecting private property and private timber.

Whites Fire: Fire crews continue protection of the historic mining district and scouting and locating fireline to be constructed over the next several days to contain the fire.

Leef Fire: The containment line on this 17 acre fire is completed and mop-up operations continue today.

Ray Fire: This fire began on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and burned onto the Klamath National Forest. It has been contained at 30 acres.

Fire Behavior: The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning in effect from 11 AM Monday to 2 AM Tuesday for increased chance of lightning with dry fuels. See http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4035/ for details. The atmospheric inversion over the area is predicted to lift today, bringing variable wind and increasing fire behavior.

Closure Orders: The Pacific Crest Trail is closed from Carter Meadows north to Etna Summit (details at http://www.pcta.org/ ). The Shackelford Road 43N21 is closed from mile marker 1 to the Shackelford Trailhead. Shackelford Trail, Forest Trail 5542 is closed from the trailhead at 43N21 to the junction of Black Meadows Trail, Forest Trail 5549.
