UPDATE: LITTLE VALLEY EVACUATION LIFTED
As of 2:00pm today, the evacuation order for Little Valley will be lifted and residents will be allowed to return home. The Little Valley Road will only be open to residents due to continued high level of fire fighting activity and equipment along the road.
Firefighters stopped the Bald Fire from burning into Little Valley, so returning residents will not have any direct effects from the fire. However, people are advised to avoid the fire area and to not interfere in any way with fire suppression activities. Anyone driving on Little Valley Road must drive slowly and use extreme caution due to the presence of firefighting crews and equipment along the road.
The northern portion of the Lassen National Forest remains closed to public entry due to the wildfires. Even after the fires are contained, hazards such as standing dead trees (snags), ash pits, hazmat, and damage to roads and bridges must be evaluated and mitigated before it will be safe to reopen this area. The Lassen National Forest is closed north of Road 16 (33N16), Highway 44 and Road 33N02.
