Summary: Firefighters had another good day on the fire line yesterday. Hot spots close to the line continued to be a priority. Road grading was completed on the 8000 road to restore the road bed after heavy fire traffic. Assessment will begin on the 8093 road to begin road upkeep.
Today’s firefighting efforts will be focused on continuing to construct and secure fire lines as well as fire line rehabilitation. The rehabilitation includes cutting down dangerous trees as well as chipping logs and limbs to decrease the amount and size of fuel left on the ground. Bulldozer lines that were put in place farther away from the fire as back-up lines to stop the fires movement will also be rehabilitated by pulling removed material back onto the lines.
Work is continuing to reduce hot areas along the fire’s edge that are smoldering and producing smoke. The public is reminded to please be aware the interior smoke will continue to pop-up with the hot and dry weather conditions. Smoke will continue to be visible until rain is received over the fire area.
As of Sunday morning, many roads, primarily along the east side of the fire, have been reopened. Please refer to www.inciweb.nwcg.gov for current information on road closures.
The areas adjacent to the fire area remain closed. Due to continued high levels of fire traffic, the public must not travel beyond any road closure signs. Heavy Law Enforcement presence will be in the area to control the closures.
