Etiwanda Fire Update 5/4 8:00 am

Incident: Etiwanda Fire Wildfire
Released: 5/4/2014

The Etiwanda fire is 94% contained this morning. Most of the fire is now confined to heat patches in the mountain foothills. The San Bernardino National Forest and Cal Fire are working on the remaining heat patches and mopping up. Crews are also restoring areas affected by dozer lines. The fire size of 2190 acres is expected to be the final size.

The high temperature expected today has decreased to 88 degrees. The current relative humidity is 10% and will be increasing over the next couple of days. Winds will be light sloping winds this morning, transitioning to onshore out of the south-southwest. This afternoon during peak heating time, winds may gust up to 15 mph. This trend will continue over the next couple of days. These milder weather conditions are assisting with the final firefighting efforts.
