The Black Mountain Fire was reported on August 29 on the Routt National Forest approximately 8 miles NE of Kremmling, in Grand County, Colorado. Investigators have determined the fire was caused by lightning.

A forest area closure remains in effect and there are also Bureau of Land Management closures too. 

A local Type 4 Organization assumed command of the fire on September 14th.
