The Hay Creek Fire was reported Wednesday evening, July 21, 2021, approximately 5 miles west of Polebridge, Montana and grew to 2,894 acres by August 20, 2021.
All evacuation warnings were lifted on August 18, 2021.
Hay Creek Road #376, Hay Creek Trail #3, and an area surrounding the fire remain closed as of 8/26/2021.

Dense mixed conifer and lodgepole stands and mature timber with heavy down/dead and intermixed grass-shrub component at lower elevations.
Minimal fire activity with smoldering observed.
Continued prep along fuel breaks and road systems utilizing heavy equipment. Crews will patrol and monitor along the fire's edge.

12 hours: Warmer and drier weather will return briefly. Smoldering in heavy dead fuels is expected.
24 hours: Cooler temperatures and rains are expected to decrease spread potential. Another 0.10 inches of rain is expected Friday.
48 hours: Cooler temperatures and rains are expected. Another 0.10 inches of rain is expected Saturday.
72 hours: Cool temperatures and increased humidity.
After 72 hours: Another chance for precipitation/thunderstorms and continued moderate temperatures.
Current: Warmer and drier weather returned.
Predicted: A moist and cool weather trend returns Friday and Saturday.
