As of this morning, the South Fire is approximately 5190 acres with 30% containment. Precipitation occurred overnight on the fire, which has reduced fire activity. Firing operations were completed along the Humboldt Trail. Crews will continue to strengthen the trail by improving the handline. Fire continues to hold within the current containment lines.

Rain fell on the fire overnight, minimizing fire behavior.
Provide point protection for structures and critical values at risk. Improve the Humboldt Trail to the northwest. Hold, improve, and mop up control lines, to the extent necessary to keep the fire within existing lines. Continue to scout and plan contingency lines. Perform suppression repair as appropriate.

12 hours: Expect smoldering and creeping fire activity with concentrations of heat in stump holes and other 1000 fuels protected from rain
24 hours: Increase in the humidity will decrease the fire behavior and movement.
Rain fell on the fire overnight with 0.10 to 0.15 inches measured. Lows were 40-45 degrees at 5000 feet elevation and 50-55 degrees at 2500 feet. Maximum relative humidity was 80-90 percent with winds southwest to west 10-15 mph with local gusts up to 35 mph.
Forecast for today: Partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs 50-55 at 5000 feet and 60-65 at 2500 feet. Minimum relative humidity 55-60 percent at 5000 feet ant 45-55 percent at 2500 feet. Winds northwest 5-10 mph except erratic and gusty near thunderstorms.
