The Middle Mamm Fire is burning in a remote, roadless area south of Rifle, Colorado.
Recent fire activity has been minimal; the fire is smoldering in interior pockets of unburned fuels. Increased smoke may be visible on sunny and windy days until the fire cools.
The area closure has been lifted, but the fire is still burning and hazards remain.

Fuels Involved | Timber (Litter and Understory) Dormant Brush, Hardwood Slash Bug kill timber with standing dead fuels and snags, steep terrain and difficult access, Fuel Model 10 and Fuel Model 6 dominate most of the fire area. Large stands of Gambel Oak and Mountain Mahogany moving into dormancy. |

Planned Actions | Continue mop up and repair, patrol and monitor on the north and west sides of the fire. On the east side continue repair work, patrol and monitor fire. Utilize helicopter bucket work to support operations as appropriate. |
Projected Incident Activity | 12 hours: Potential for some low intensity surface spread on southern aspects. 24 hours: Drying trend continues, increased surface fire spread possible. 48 hours: Interior burning continues, no threats to containment lines. After 72 hours: Seasonal fire behavior will continue until the next moisture event; possibly Saturday or Sunday. |
Remarks | An area closure is in effect of US Forest Service lands in the Middle Mamm drainage, Gant Gulch and part of Battlement Trail #2160. |
