Maroon Fire has officially transitioned back to a Type 4 Fire.

Type 3 Team left with a very complete product. Moving forward, continuing to secure the identified holding features, reduce fire-related hazards along roadways, assess resource rehabilitation needs, and patrol the fire as interior pockets of fuel continue to consume. Resource numbers are scaled back and numbers will continue to drop over the weekend.

Planned Actions

Containment will continue to increase over the next few weeks as firefighters identify and extinguish sources of heat along containment lines. Crews will continue with the removal of hazardous trees along travel corridors for public and firefighter safety.


Maroon Crater was used for WWII artillery training and unexploded ordnance is likely present around the crater itself.
