Firefighters on the Indian Peaks Prescribed Fire have completed the 10,000 acre project over the last three days of operations. As fuels burn down over the next several days smoke in the area will become less each day. Overall impacts to the local area remain light during the day and heavy along Highway 59 at night. Communities within the Rio Grande Valley should not notice much smoke production from the prescribed fire. The prescribed fire may contribute to additional hazy skies near the Beaverhead Work Center in the Gila National Forest, however smoke impacts to local communities are expected to stay in the good range during the day.
