Cause: Human caused (discarded smoking material) - investigation is ongoing
% Containment: 90% (at the SW corner of the fire around the initial start location)

Heat Advisory is in the forecast over the next few days as temperature may hit the century mark.


Objectives: Safety first and always. Decontamination procedures are a high priority for personnel and equipment. As the fire winds down, firefighters have been pulling hose and breaking down laterals.

Fire officials have decided to leave the fire at 90% containment until further notice. We are in the process of decontaminating and demobilizing equipment and developing a rehab/repair plan for the incident.

Will be transitioning to a local ICT4 for fire rehab/repair, however the ICT3 will stick around for any IA in the OU3 area. A dozer and skidgine are on standby until fire conditions moderate.

Special Order: The Kootenai National Forest has entered into Stage I Fire Restrictions and are in effect until further notice.

Building, maintaining, attending or using a campfire except within a developed recreation site or improved recreation site. Fires solely fueled by liquid petroleum or LPG Fuels are authorized in areas that are barren or cleared of all overhead and surrounding flammable materials within three (3) feet of the device.

Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable materials.
