Current Situation (Thursday, July 12): Fire crews have completed the task of containing this fire, which was caused by a vehicle fire spreading into the vegetation. Firefighters will continue to patrol and monitor the fire for any indications of activity. Hose has been removed from the fire area. No structures were damaged, but eight firefighters were treated for heat-related injuries.

Evacuations: Currently there are no mandatory or voluntary evacuations in place.

Roads Closures: All lanes and the shoulder of northbound I-15 have reopened.

Fireworks: Possession of fireworks is illegal on National Forest Lands!

Drones: Drones pose a serious risk to firefighting and can cause air operations to cease. When drones interfere with firefighting efforts, a wildfire has the potential to grow larger and cause more damage. A FAA Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) may be in effect and any private aircraft or drone that violates the TFR could face serious criminal charges. Even without a TFR, anyone who hampers firefighting efforts could face charges as well. For more information on drones the public can visit the FAA’s website at “If you fly, we can’t!”
