The Lobster Creek Fire started Sunday, July 1 on private timberlands about 12 miles northeast of Gold Beach. The Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) ordered a Type 1 Incident Management Team from the Oregon Department of Forestry (Link Smith, IC) which took command of the fire July 2, 2018. The fire burned 397 acres primarily in slash and valuable young tree plantations. The fire is completely lined, mopped up to at least 100 feet and shows very minimal fire activity. Containment has reached 100 percent.

CFPA resumes command of the fire Sunday July 8, 2018 at 12:00pm and will continue mop up and patrol operations.
