Northeast Washington Interagency Incident Management Team 1 (NEWIMT) has been tasked by Okanogan County Department of Emergency Management with managing and coordinating the field response to the Okanogan County Flooding that started May 10, 2018. This includes providing relief for sandbagging efforts. In addition, we are coordinating the planning and implementation of contingency plans for additional impacts to the communities effected by the rise of the Okanogan River. The personnel assigned to the incident are assisting with sand bag operations and levy reinforcement actions along the Okanogan River from the Canadian border south to the City of Okanogan. Crews are working in numerous communities including: Okanogan, Omak, Riverside, Tonasket and Oroville. The NEWIMT has established a command post at the Okanogan County Fairgrounds.
