Established in 2006, the North Kaibab Ranger District of the Kaibab National Forest and the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park have a combined fire management staff (North Zone Fire Organization), more commonly referred to as the "North Zone."
During any given season, there are varying stages of hazardous fuel reduction projects being implemented across the zone. Our goal is to improve forest health, create defensible space around structures, reduce hazardous fuels on the landscape, protect heritage resources and combat threats facing forests in the southwest; such threats may include but are not limited to, rising temperatures, insects, disease and uncharacteristic stand-replacing wildfires.
