The lightning-caused Patrol Ridge fire was reported August 12, 2017, burning 4.5 miles east of Windy Saddle on the Red River Ranger District. Since that time, the fire has moved north onto the Moose Creek Ranger District, in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness.
Identified values at risk include Warm Springs Bar and Running Creek Ranch.
This fire is being managed for long-term resource benefits using a point protection strategy.
Portions of Trails 71 and 10 are closed for the safety and protection of the public due to fire activity. Please see "Closures" for details.
