Crews and heavy equipment have completed 99% of the indirect contingency lines around the 2 acre French Fire. There was no visible smoke as of August 22, but sprinkler operations will remain in place until aerial IR results confirm that all hot spots have been extinguished. This will be the last update on this page unless new significant activity occurs. Fire History: On August 10, a lightning strike ignited the French Fire near Detroit, OR. Pacific Northwest Team 2, a Type 1 Incident Management Team took command of the French Fire on August 15. Pacific Northwest Team 2 was already managing the Whitewater Fire, Rebel, Avenue, and Box Canyon Fires as well.

FLIR and IR have not picked up any heat in the fire. This will be the final 209 and the fire will remain in monitor status.

Max temperatures in the 70s. Minimum humidity 40 to 50 percent. Southwest to West afternoon wind 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph exposed ridges. Cloudy through early afternoon Thursday with areas of drizzle or light showers, then partly sunny. Highs 65 to 75. Minimum humidity 45% lowest elevations to 65% ridges. Warmer Friday with max temperatures 70 to 80 and minimum humidity 25 to 35 percent. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph with afternoon gusts to 20 mph. Several degrees warmer Saturday with highs in the mid 70s to mid 80s. Minimum humidity 15 to 25 percent. Poor nighttime recovery slopes and ridges. East wind to 10 mph Saturday morning, shifting to Northwest to North in the afternoon.
