Incident Overview

The Oak Fire, which started by lightning on August 11, is located approximately 5 miles west of Happy Camp, CA, in the upper part of Oak Flat Creek drainage, about 1 mile south east of the Baldy Mountain Lookout. The fire is in timber in steep, rugged terrain.

Planned Actions

Improve road 17N22 on east side of Oak Flat drainage for possible strategic firing operations. Construct dozer and handline on ridge from Baldy Mountain south for a western perimeter.
