Incident Commander: Kevin Griffee and Don Melton (t) Western Washington Incident Management Type 3 Team Dry Creek Fire Update for Wednesday, July 19, 2017 Fire at a Glance ... more
The fire's original location was about 5+ miles, north of Husum Washington. It started around 10:30 PM on the night of July 7th. Fire cause is unknown, and under investigation. During the day on the 8th, due to winds, low humidity, and high temperatures, the fire spread rapidly, and a Type 3 Incident Team took over command 7/17/17. Currently the fire is in mop up status, with crews continually looking for hot spots, and widening the perimeter line. The fire is burning in steep and timbered land. State Highway 141 is now open, but please stay cautious, as there is still fire apparatus along with firefighters in the area.
