Approximate Location

34.28 latitude, -117.56 longitude

Incident Overview

The Silver Fire began at approximately 1:13 PM on July 4, 2017. The fire has been accurately mapped at 13 acres and is 60% contained. Firefighters from San Bernardino County, San Bernardino National Forest, and CALFIRE are working to extinguish the fire.

Drones: While there has been no drone activity over the fire, drones interfere with firefighting efforts. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) that is in effect and any private aircraft or drone that violates the TFR could face serious criminal charges. Even without a TFR, anyone who hampers firefighting efforts could face criminal charges as well. For more information on drones the public can visit the FAA’s website at www.KnowBeforeYouFly.org. “If you fly, we can’t!” You can also watch a Drone Public Service Message.
