Incident Overview

The Rael Fire, on the Reserve Ranger District and geographically located on Rael Mesa at the southern end of the Plains of San Augustine, was reported today at approximately 1130 a.m. The fire is estimated at 500 acres and is burning in tall grass. While this fire is under the jurisdiction of New Mexico State Forestry, suppression is by interagency efforts with Gila National Forest and Catron County Volunteer Fire Departments.
