CARSON NATIONAL FOREST INDEPENDENCE WILDFIRE FINAL UPDATE

Taos, NM, July 11, 2016 The Independence Wildfire started on July 4, 2016 on the Questa Ranger District, north of Lama Foundation is currently 90% contained. The fire, located between the Lama Foundation and the Columbine/Hondo Wilderness Area, has held at 22 acres.

Fire activity today was minimal and fire has been transferred to a Type 5 incident commander. One engine will remain on the fire, all other resources have been released. This is the final update unless significant fire behavior occurs.
