Incident Overview

Description: The Skibo Fire began at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Friday May 6 just north of St. Louis County Highway 110 (Forest Highway 11) and two miles east of Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota. Burned acres are estimated at 973 with segments of the fire stretching nearly eight miles east of Hoyt Lakes to west of Skibo Road (Forest Road 120). The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Current Situation:

· Public and firefighter safety continues to be the priority mission. · Trees have been damaged and snags (dead branches) can fall, please stay aware.· Varying amounts of rain has fallen on the fire area and moderated fire activity.
· The fire was 100% contained on 5/15/2016.
