Incident Overview

Located in the Eagle Cap Wilderness, 17 miles east of Union, on the north side of the Minam River drainage. Fire started in Pole Creek and burned over the top of Katy Mountain. The fire is actively burning and torching in subalpine fir over Katy Mountain. Fire is burning into the south aspect of Last Chance Creek. A Fire Observer will be present this afternoon on the fire to monitor activity and call for air support as needed. The zone plans to bring in a long-term Fire Behavior Analyst will evaluate probabilities of the fire movement, given predicted weather. This will help the Zone anticipate and be prepared for possible fire growth over the next few weeks.
