Summary: Today is the final Update. A couple fire engines will be monitoring the perimeter of the Skunk Fire for a couple more days.

Road Closures

All road closures have been lifted. Skunk Fire burned area is not safe to enter. There are still dangers of hot spots, dropping of burning snags and rolling debri or rocks.

Creeping and smoldering pockets of the interior fuels burning out.


Planned Actions

Control the fire at roads or natural barriers as conditions and fire activity permit. Manage for natural resource benefit.

Projected Incident Activity

Fire is contained around the perimeter; however there is still concern about the unburned areas in the interior.


Fire containment line was completed, but areas of concern still exist in the interior. Fire Fighters will continue to monitor and patrol the western part of the fire perimeter.

High pressure centered over Northern New Mexico will keep temperatures above normal for the next few days.
