News Release August 19, 2022   St John, WA - The Wagner Road Fire is located 13 miles west of St. John, WA. This fire started on Thursday, August 18th and has burned approximately 4,000 acres of grass, stubble and standing wheat.  

Evacuations: There is currently no evacuations levels in place for the fire.

Thursday, High fuel loading in the grass areas, wind and slope all contributed to the rapid fire spread.   

Resources from multiple Whitman County fire districts, Lincoln County fire districts, Spokane County fire districts and the Bureau of Land Management responded with fire fighters and equipment.   Additionally, aircraft from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources was used in the firefighting effort.

Today, Firefighter’s will continue to construct control lines and reinforce existing control lines.   Air resources will be available to support firefighting efforts.
