Pine Pond Fire Update
August 12, 2022 8:00 pm

Size: est. 700 acres
Containment: 35%
Start Date: August 11, 2022
Cause: Under investigation

Fire resources have been working throughout the day and have successfully stopped forward progression of the active fire perimeter. Containment has increased to 35% as of this evening due to a strong effort by both ground and aerial resources. Crews have continued their work to contain the northern edge of the fire as well as the eastern portion where containment lines have been established and secured. Ariel resources have been utilized heavily throughout the day. There is a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) in place for safety of all aviators in the area. Please remember “If you fly, we can’t”.

Heavy equipment, hand crews and fire engines will continue constructing containment lines with a focus on the western portion of the fire. The focus of effort being on reinforcing containment line that needs it and patrolling the existing lines to make sure that there is no threat of further spread.

Fire Weather: Rainfall was experienced this afternoon over parts of the fire area that assisted with suppression efforts. Though the combined heat and sunshine dry out the fine fuels, which make them susceptible to burn after a few short hours of sunshine. The expectation is for excellent humidity recovery again tonight into Saturday morning along with light winds. There will be another low chance for showers and thunderstorms over the burn area on Saturday.

Evacuations and Road Closures: There are currently no evacuation orders in place. There is no official road closure but based on fire activity, there may be a road block in place. Please avoid the area if you are not a resident and be mindful of firefighters working in these areas. Damages and Injuries: No structures have been destroyed. No injuries have been reported by first responders or the public.
