1148 Fire Stats:
Size: 457 Acres
Containment: 50%
Location: 15 miles SW of
Graham, TX
Start Date: July 18, 2021

Resources Assigned
Total personnel: 74

The Southern Area Blue, Type I Incident Management Team assumed command of the 1148 Fire at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022

Current Status: Significant progress has been made in the past 24 hours, with little to no fire activity observed across the 1148 fire. Firefighting efforts were also assisted by light precipitation in the fire vicinity, increasing relative humidity which helps decrease burning conditions.
Despite minimal observed fire behavior, elevated potential for fire activity is present, as fuels surrounding the fire's perimeter remain extremely dry and at an increased risk of ignition. Firefighters will remain diligent as the probability of ignition remains high as does the potential for extreme fire behavior if activity increases.
To minimize any potential fire activity, crews will continue mopping up existing hot spots and strengthening and improving existing containment lines on all sides of the fire. Engines will continue working near structures and along FM 1148 to minimize any chance of fire activity in the area.

Fire Weather:
Light precipitation was observed across the 1148 fire. A 20% chance of precipitation remains across the region into the afternoon and tapers off as the day progresses. Hot and dry weather will continue for the foreseeable future, with daytime temperatures maxing out near 100 degrees. Winds out of the southeast will occur at 9-12 mph with gusts up to 18 mph. Humidity recovery has increased in recent days, with tonight’s humidity recovering to near 60%.

Closures/Evacuations:
There are currently no evacuation orders in place.
