The Southern Area Blue, Type-I Incident Management Team assumed command of the 1148 Fire at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.

Current Status:

No additional growth has occurred on the 1148 Fire in several days. Two taskforces of firefighters spent Saturday mopping up the fire. Firefighters in these taskforces have been identified as initial attack resources if needed to assist with any new fires that might start. Crews were also assisted by an overnight infrared flight that identified two small pockets of heat within the fire perimeter. Equipped with GPS coordinates from the flight, firefighters were led to the exact location of these heat sources.

For today, crews remaining on the fire are searching for and extinguishing any remaining hotspots, while also monitoring and patrolling the fire perimeter.

Fire Weather:

Continued hot and dry conditions throughout the day on Sunday will result in afternoon temperatures reaching 101-104 degrees. Afternoon winds will increase to 10-15 out of the south and later from the southeast with gusts up to 20 mph. Relative humidity will drop to nearly 20%. Today will not see any wetting rain. As reminder, if thunderstorms develop in north Texas, they could generate outflow winds in the afternoon that could cause brief wind shifts and gusts. These storms do not need to be over a fire to cause significant shifts in weather patterns.

Closures/Evacuations: There are currently no evacuation orders in place.
