July 23, 2022 10:00 a.m.

1148 Fire Stats:

Size: 457 Acres

Containment: 50%

Location: 15 miles SW of Graham, TX

Start Date: July 18, 2021

Cause: Unknown

Resources Assigned:

•     Total personnel: 54

•     Dozers: 5

The Southern Area Blue, Type-I Incident Management Team assumed command of the 1148 Fire at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.

Current Status: No additional fire growth occurred on the 1148 Fire yesterday. Two task forces are assigned to continue mopping up on any remaining fire. Those resources continue monitoring the entire perimeter, as well as interior heat sources, as progress moves towards a full containment status. Firefighting efforts were also assisted by light precipitation near the fire a day ago, increasing relative humidity which helps decrease burning conditions. The task forces operating on the 1148 Fire are also responsible for initial attacking new fires which may start within their vicinity.

Fire Weather: Temperatures will again be near 100 degrees, with a chance of cloud cover over the 1148 Fire which could moderate temperatures and increase relative humidity. No precipitation is expected, but nearby thunderstorms may produce outflow winds that could affect the fire area. Winds out of the south to southeast will occur at 8-12 mph with gusts up to 18 mph. Relative humidity will be 15-20%, which is still low and fuels on the ground remain extremely dry.

Closures/Evacuations: There are currently no evacuation orders in place.

Safety and Notifications: Personal responsibility and prevention of the next ignition is of utmost importance in preventing the next wildfire. Refrain from parking vehicles on dry grass and make sure all power equipment is in good working condition. Do your part to help our firefighters.

Wildfires are a NO DRONE ZONE. If you fly, we can’t. Flying a drone near a wildfire can shut down all air operations.
