Lime Complex Daily Update July 18, 2022

Lime Complex
Publication Type: News 07/18/2022

The Lime Complex consists of two staffed fires and sixteen unstaffed fires. The total size of the combined fires is 865,620 acres, and there are 141 resources assigned to the complex, an area covering 21 million acres. Each of these fires was caused by lightning. We continue to monitor unstaffed fires for growth and potential threats to identified values and are ready to respond if needed to protect values at risk.

Containment: 56%

Staffed Fires in the Complex

Door Mountain (114,294 acres)

Kuktuli River/Pike Creek (293,970 acres)

Crews in the northern section of the complex continue to pull and backhaul equipment around allotments and cabins along the Kuskokwin corridor and near Lime Village. Firefighters are also conducting repair operations associated with fire suppression objectives as needed. Personnel continue to patrol and monitor any changes within the Lime Village burnout. These operations are expected to take four to five days

In the southern portion of the complex near Iliamna firefighters are pulling, backhauling equipment, and conducting repair work while also validating the supplies being backhauled for accountability purposes. These operations are expected to continue over the next two or three days.

A communications mission occurred to ensure the safety of firefighters on the Complex. Recent widespread rainfall has limited fire activity and is expected to continue over the next few days.

Weather: An upper-level trough will remain the dominant weather feature, bringing precipitation to the Complex into the middle of the week. Mostly cloudy to cloudy with periods of rain (CWR 70%). Winds south to southwest 8 to 12 mph, with gusts up to 22 mph. Highs in the mid 50s to low 60s. Minimum RH 65 to 75%.
