Fire Summary: Firefighters continue to increase containment of the Murray Fire, reaching 93% yesterday. With minimal fire activity, cooler temperatures, higher relative humidity and precipitation in the forecast, all conducive to fire containment, crews are aiming for 100% containment by Thursday, September 15. Fire crews continue demobilization of personnel and packaging up fire equipment no longer needed on the fire. They will continue this process until the fire is fully contained and the area is safe enough to be managed by the local fire unit.
Fire Situation: The fire will transition back to the local unit this week as containment approaches 100%. There are no evacuations in effect, and roads in the fire area are still open only to local traffic for firefighter and public safety until further notice. This will be the summary update regarding Murray Fire information; for further inquiries, please contact DNRC Fire Management Officer, AJ Angelo at Amadeo.Angelo@MT.gov.

Weather Concerns | The general trough pattern with cooler temperatures and higher humidity will remain through the weekend. The precipitation forecast is less certain with showers showing up on radar projections today (Wednesday), but smoke continues to cause stable conditions, so confidence in the amount and strength of showers or thunderstorms is low. The potential still exists for showers and thunderstorms to pass through northwest Montana this morning before spreading out and covering most of western Montana forests through the rest of the day. |
