On the afternoon of July 13, 2022 a fire started in southeast side of Shackelford County. Fire is located in rocky terrain and is burning in thick mesquite and oak fuels. Shackelford County Volunteer Fire Department requested assistance from Texas A&M Forest Service (TAMFS). State resources from TAMFS responded to the fire and are on scene working with the local incident commander under unified command.

Continue to patrol containment lines looking for any areas that are still holding any heat and cool them off. Dozers will continue to monitor control lines and improve any sections that need it.

Elevated fire weather conditions will persist over the next several days. Expect south to southwest winds of 5 to 15 mph, with some gusts to 20 mph through Friday. Also, isolated to scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and early evening may produce gusty and erratic winds. Also, outflow boundaries may cause sudden wind shifts. The minimum RH values will be around 30 percent during the mid-afternoon. Expect hot temperatures with highs around 103 this afternoon.
